How Do I Vote?

Equitable, Liveable & Sustainable - A City for All

Voting

Anyone can vote in a municipal election who, on the day of the election, is:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • either a resident of the municipality or a property owner or tenant or the spouse or same sex partner of an owner or tenant in the municipality during a specified time just before the election.

Review the list of acceptable documents for voter identification for more information on acceptable forms of voter identification.

Vote By Mail

For the first time, eligible voters will be able to register to vote by mail.  This gives all voters the opportunity to cast their vote without physically attending a voting location.

Vote-by-Mail packages will include:

1. A declaration form to be signed in order for your vote to count

2. An official ballot

3. A ballot secrecy envelope

4. A pre-paid return envelope

Once an elector request has been received for a vote-by-mail package, the request will be processed and packages will be mailed in late September by regular mail.

Completed return packages can be mailed back using the prepaid envelope through Canada Post or deposited into a secure mail-in voting drop box at either of these locations beginning on October 11, 2022:

1. City Hall, 3rd Floor Clerk’s Office

2. Seymour-Hannah Sports & Entertainment Centre

3. St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatic Centre

Completed packages must be received by the Clerk’s Office on October 24, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
